Healing and the Moon

CURRENT MOON

The elders have always maintained that the phases of the moon affect us. So much, that they even had a separate calender for it. That the moon affects water we know already, and we have seen the effect in the form of tidal waves.

Now consider this – scientists found that during full and new moons, there were tidal waves even in a tea cup, if you used the right microscope. Put this together with the fact that we are about 80% water, and you know that the moon affects us too.

Now how does the moon affect us? Physically, scientists are already finding proof.

Moon’s Cycle Tied to Heart Surgery Outcomes

MONDAY, July 22 (HealthDay News) — Scheduled for heart surgery? A new study suggests you might fare better or worse depending on the moon’s cycle at the time of the procedure.

Researchers found that patients who had a type of heart surgery called acute aortic dissection repair during a waning full moon were less likely to die and had shorter hospital stays than if the same operation happened at other points in the lunar cycle… Read More

The moon also affects the mind. Studies have shown the correlation between the full moon and crime. Scientists only recently found that the cycles of the moon affect sleep. The study showed that brain activity related to deep during these times is 30% lesser than normal. As it is during deep sleep that we truly connect with the universe and heal, this lack means that we receive less energy during these times.

From the perspective of the 5 elements, water represents emotions. The tidal waves that the moon brings about, will bring about a tidal wave in our emotions. There is a visible co-relation to the phases of the moon and insanity. People with mental illness and women with hormonal imbalances tend to go a little more crazy than usual during this time. All these disturbances actually make it a lot harder to meditate, which is exactly why we need to meditate more – if we want to get our regular dose of energy from the universe.

From a spiritual perspective, the tidal waves in the heart and mind bring up suppressed and unresolved emotions. Meditation is about stepping back and witnessing the mind, refusing to participate in the drama. When we choose to do this, we transcend much of what the mind was processing. Put the two together and you know that you can transcend a lot more during these times, than on normal days, in the same duration.

When you look at it from the viewpoint of a healer, healing is also a lot more effective during full and new moons. It is not only the exact day, but one to two days before and after, that the vibration remains high. Go on and send healing to all those who need it, to all your intentions as well as to the earth and all it’s beings.

Phases of the moon:

New Moon: The new moon begins the waxing phase of the moon and it signifies new beginnings, growth and renewal. We can use the growing light to plant seeds, literally as well as figuratively. Anything that you want to start or attract into your life, this is the right time to do it.

Full Moon: During full moons, the sun and the moon are on opposite sides of the earth. The sun represents the inner masculine, and the moon, the inner feminine. So it is as if they are standing on either side, reflecting and mirroring each other. This makes it a good time to bring in awareness and heal the clashes between the two forces inside ourselves, as well as to heal romantic relationships. Also, the full moon begins the waning phase – so this is a good time to let go of anything that no longer serves you. Full Moon Energy Rituals

Eclipses are special times when the light and dark, play with each other, creating tremendous confusion and chaos in the mind. If tackled carefully, these times can help is transcend aspects of ourselves that have been diseased for a long time. These are times for surrender, forgiveness, release and understanding. The solar eclipse involves issues with inner and outer power and assertiveness. The lunar eclipse brings up emotional and relationship issues.
